Is Social Media Addiction in Covid-19 Pandemic Affecting Students' Academic Performance and Health?
The objective is to see how social media addiction affected students' academic performance and physical health in covid-19. In addition, the moderating impact of psychological well-being on the relationships between personality traits and social media addiction is also studied. Data collection is conducted through an online survey with 506 Pakistani students. Results are analyzed through the partial least squares method. The findings revealed that social media addiction is strongly linked to the big five personality traits. Furthermore, the findings indicated that social media addiction has a major impact on academic performance and physical health. Also, the findings discovered that psychological well-being moderates the impact of such personality traits on social media addiction. The implications of these results are also explored, and possible research strategies are suggested.
